Energy efficiency of Android sensors vs Bluetooth low energy sensors? -
i making android application requires me detect user's motion. application requires me use external sensor, bluetooth smart sensor, other purposes.
now have 2 options:
- to use accelerometer , gyrometer of android phone
- fetch motion information bluetooth smart sensor.
i understand bluetooth smart (ble) more energy efficient bluetooth sensors.
however, confused of above options provide me more energy efficient solution on android device. edit: presently not concerned energy efficiency of bluetooth device. also, please see want comparison because don't want detect accurate user motion, otherwise external device(bluetooth low energy device) have been better hands down.
the accelerometer , gyrometer take same amount of power whether it's on phone or external device. difference external device has transmit information on radio signal phone. makes more sense use phone's existing information if that's sufficient because won't require radio transmissions , require less power. also, phone have larger battery.
the sensors on phone have nothing bluetooth... they're incorporated right hardware.
edit: difference between bluetooth , ble ble uses radio more sparingly. radio transmissions take chunk of power. so, using on-board sensors going (most likely) take far less power using radio communicate external sensor. also, have feeling accelerometers on on cellphone getting readings going take no more power being used, too.
