java - Eclipse content assist failing in migrated workspace -


the situation:

we migrated new workstations. copied of workspaces over. on old workstation, had both rad 7.5 (based on eclipse 3.4) , eclipse 4.3. on new workstation, have rad 8.5 (based on eclipse 3.6). far, problem i've had has been when opened eclipse 4.3 workspace in rad 8.5 , discovered content assist doesn't work. can type this. , wait, , nothing happens few seconds, , little red underline appears under text. can hit ctrl+space , content-assist window appears - , it's empty!

what's interesting legacy-rad 7.5 workspaces don't have problem - happens workspaces created eclipse 4.3. i've tried using "restore defaults" button in preferences page, i've tried exporting preferences legacy-rad 7.5 workspaces , importing legacy-eclipse 4.3 workspaces, content assist still doesn't work.

i'm guessing there's piece of meta-data needs recreated rad 8.5 i'm not sure 1 is... have suggestions?

may can enable content assist manually.

window--->preferences--->java---->editor----content assist---->advanced

make sure have "java proposals" selected.
