linux - Does COPY-PASTE transfer ALL subfolders and files? -
i more specific. many days ago, tried dual boot windows 7 , linux (kali), in case didnt go well, created image (vhd file) of system through action center. noob didn't install linux successfully.my hard disk corrupted, not boot in windows (bsod , restart).how did corrupt? because didnt go when tried install linux...
after time managed install linux properly, because windows still not boot, decided format , erase everything. way use backup. used windows installation/repair cd restore backup (image of windows).here getting crazy --> after recovery finished, realised had made backup when problem there already(i experimenting linux installation before backup), again not boot in windows(bsod)...i @ beggining.
but when installed new clean windows again, attached vhd file , got access old hard disk(now virtual).i think way restore old files. how? copy-paste. copy-pasted program files users. but enough? mean of programs can't run(errors etc.).why? maybe copy-paste not transfer files? maybe there permissions problems? can recover whole system copy-pasting?
as can understand, seek answer whole problem described , not copy-pasting. answer me complicated problem, appreciated. thanks.
the installations of programs not limited files. programs can install dependencies, such microsoft visual c++, not part of program part of windows, , go in system folder. windows has master database know registry, programs create entries related configurations, file associations etc. not mention data in c:\programdata important.
long story short, cannot copy program folder , expect work. programs manage work, big softwares won't. have install them properly.
