indexing - Sitemap Index versus Child Sitemaps -


i have question sitemaps; more sitemap index links child sitemaps...

i know through have read if submit sitemap index webmaster tools in google or bing, robots around processing child sitemaps have in sitemap index. have 1 sitemap index , ten child sitemaps linked in index. working , not errors. question is... there harm in submitting both sitemap index , child sitemaps google? reason ask submitted ten child sitemaps 1 one... after did of learned should have sitemap index (i'm still new @ web design) should removing these child sitemaps google webmaster tools? or can stay? not want have negative impact search engines...

any opinions on topic appreciated. eric

as per google support docs:

as long you've uploaded , saved sitemaps, don't need submit each sitemap individually. submit sitemap index file , you're go.

the downside of submitting child sitemaps individually may that, if remove child sitemap later have manually remove it. can't verify i've not done before.

objective c - Greedy NSProgressIndicator Allocation -
